Year 3/4 (Mr Salway)

Hope you have all had a lovely half term break and a well-deserved rest. This week we will be completing time in maths, the work pack is in your hwb files as well as on the school website. In literacy we will be focusing on recount writing.

Literacy

1st activity – Recount comprehension sheet

2nd activity – Watch the video “The Lighthouse” and make notes

3rd activity – Write a “Cold Piece” recount using notes – Bring to Wednesday’s live lesson

4th activity – Past tense Worksheet

5th activity – Powerful verbs worksheet

PM Work – We will be looking at habitats this week and why animals have chosen to liver in certain places. Worksheets are in your hwb files as well as on the school website to access.

Home learning Year 3/4  Week starting 8th Feb 2021

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are feeling refreshed. What a success that last week was looking at well-being and mental health!

This week in Maths we will be focusing on capacity– Again sheets are differentiated so choose the one which suits you. 

This week in Literacy we will be focusing on reading through the use of a differentiated comprehension focusing on deadly animals as well as choosing 2 -3 activitiers linked to the Ride of Passage Video. Listed activities are:

Teaching Ideas
Factual research about Tribes living in the Rainforest.
Research animals of the rainforest.
Ask children to find out about where Toki might live, if he goes to school, what he might eat. etc
Write a diary entry for a day in the life of Toki.
Write a letter to Toki asking him questions they would like to find out about living in the rainforest. 
Create a map of Toki's village
Write a conversation between Toki and the elders. 
How would Toki feel about this task? Discuss
Write the speech between Toki and the Elders when they realise he released the Chameleon.
Retell the story of the animation. 

Do as many as you can (Not all of them J)

This week in the afternoons we will be focusing on some map work looking at the various continents and Oceans. We also would like you to complete as much of the continents fact sheet as you can. You could even use the example factsheet to create your own on the various continents. We would also like you to choose a continent and research the deadly animals that live here and create a list.

Wow, February all ready. It is Wellbing Week so there is less formal work to complete, but you can still progress through your Reading Eggs/Express and your Mathseeds/Mathletics activities to earn some extra dojo points.

Create an image to draw your feelings. Discuss what each part means with your “Home Teacher” so they can see how you are feeling.

Music

Learn a new song, to help you express yourself. Choose one of these videos and learn the words to sing back. You could record yourself on hwb singing along. You may even get some of your family to join in, have a dance and a bit of fun!

Literacy

For Literacy this week we will be completing work linked to wellbeing namely a comprehension, a survival map and Poetry. We will also be looking at turning negative statements into positives.

Numeracy

For Numeracy we are working on 2D shapes, you can choose to do the Medium difficulty or challenge yourself to the Hard difficulty worksheets.

Deadly 60

Create a fact sheet about a Deadly Animal. Think about the:

  • Name
  • Size
  • Habitat
  • what countries or continent  it is from
  • What it eats
  • Why it is a deadly animal.
  • Create a labelled diagram.

Good morning boys and girls, hope you are all keeping safe and well, this week in Literacy we will be focusing on investigating plastic, there are various activities on your hwb accounts as well as the website. Work your way through them and select the ones which inspire you. We have the following activities linked to the book which we shared together on Mondays Live Lesson. (A letter to MP, A comprehension, An investigation and A poster activity.) If you missed Mondays session don’t worry the PowerPoint book is on your hwb accounts. In numeracy this week we will be focusing on graphs and money again the activities have been shared directly to your hwb accounts so feel free to complete them using j2e and share with me.

For Maths this Week, we will work on place value and rounding. There are 2 booklets to complete. One is “Place Value”, the second is “Rounding and Estimating”. You can choose whether to challenge yourself with the hard one, or work on the easier Booklet. The choice is yours.

For Literacy this Week, we will work on a number of activities linked to the Video entitled “The way back home” Pupils can:

  • Write a diary/recount of the adventure.
  • Build a rocket and decide where it is going.
  • Write a holiday brochure page for their destination.
  • Write speech between the boy and the alien.
  • Write a description of the alien or the strange place in which they land.

We had our Christmas concert 2018. We were Hawaii. We wore hula skirts or shirts.

We researched foods that put you in a good mood or bad.

We saw Awful Auntie in the Grand Theatre.
