Proud To Be Welsh

Promoting Being Welsh at Clwyd

At Clwyd Community Primary School we feel it is really important for children children to be proud of their heritage and identity. (UNCRC Article 8, 22 and 30)

We do this by:

  • Celebrating Welsh Heritage through stories and poems
  • Holding a designated Welsh Week where we focus on Welsh places and famous Welsh people
  • St David's Day celebrations
  • Annual Eisteddfod
  • Enthusiastically promoting the Welsh language
  • Using our local community as a stimulus for learning
  • Celebrating Welsh sporting success

Whilst doing this we also embrace global citizenship. We recognise and celebrate the diversity within our school. We work closely with the Ethnic Minority Achievement Unit (EMAU), parents and the community to ensure children are aware and respectful towards all cultures.

As Criw Cymraeg we make sure a Welsh speaking ethos is promoted across the school! We are working towards our Bronze Siarter Iaith so please use Welsh as much as you can.

Diolch :)
